I’m a big believer that nothing is impossible. It took me a while to learn that my thoughts and words helped manifest my path in life…good and bad. It makes me a lot more careful about what I say. I think anyone can accomplish great things in life if you speak positively and affirm your own greatness and ability to achieve things you never thought possible.
This is a thought I had on being a leader vs. being a follower. It’s something I’ve had to deal with in life. This applies in every area, work or personal. I think everyone deserves to pursue what they’re passionate about without anything in the way. I believe nothing is impossible when you use your own talents and abilities to take charge of your life. I hope these words inspire you to claim your life back from anyone/anything that is leading you in the wrong direction and holding you back.
HI all! It’s been a while since I’ve written anything because it’s been pretty busy over here with my band, Dead Love Club. We’ve been playing a lot and expanding our shows to Houston. It’s been an absolute blast and we’ve met some amazing people along the way. Our band is just getting better and our live experience is becoming quite the spectacle. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect path to be on.
In my life, I’ve encountered many times where I ended up at a fork in the road…not knowing which path to take. Sometimes, I let fear take over and I would stand there, paralyzed, scared that I would make the wrong decision. Those times of indecision lasted anywhere from a few minutes, hours, days to years. Yes, YEARS. I think you all know what I’m talking about… (more…)
Hi all! Hope everyone has been doing well…SXSW is over and Spring is around the corner! Life is great, isn’t it?
I’ve been inspired to write this entry because of personal struggles I’ve had in my life and struggles I hear others having with being “ok” with who you are and your place in life. I’ve had struggles being a woman, an artist and a musician.
First of all, I have to say, being a woman in this world is tough because there’s so much that is expected of us in the way we look, dress, carry ourselves, etc. It’s that -ER factor….that someone is prettiER, smartER, thinnER, richER….it goes on. It can make us crazy and insecure…it leaves us vulnerable and prey to those with bad intentions.
The next facet of my personal struggle is being a musician. There have been so many times I have watched my heroes on stage and have thought that I would never be good enough. And if you’re a singer or musician, how many times have you been sent a video of a 5 year old busting out a perfect rendition of a Mariah Carey song or a 7 year old girl playing Eruption note for note? It can be pretty discouraging. I have to say that when I see someone just BLAZE on the drums, I just think…”ok, I’m going to pick up my drums, walk to the edge of the earth and hurl them into the sea. Then, I’m going to curl up in a ball and turn to dust”. (more…)
Hi all! I know it’s been a while since I blogged anything. Just been busy working with my band, Dead Love Club. It’s been a pretty fun run so far and we’re ramping up. We’re the featured band in the February issue of Rockstar Magazine here in Austin and have released an EP free for download on our website. I’m so thankful!
In my time of working in entertainment and getting to know other musicians here in town, I’ve noticed that many of us have the same issue. How do we get seen? How do we get more shows on our calendar? It’s a tough industry to work in that requires work, perseverance and sacrifice. Of course, we would all love to be discovered and swooped up by someone powerful and made into a star…it can happen, nothing is impossible, but you can do something to gain traction while you’re waiting for that breakthrough.
Art, fashion and music are my passion. There are so many avenues I could take with each one….the issue is releasing fear and having faith.
There are so many of us that are dreaming of something we’re “going” to do….something that feeds our souls and makes us happy. There are those thoughts of quitting your job and really going for your passion. Unfortunately, for most of us, we need to find something promising that is going to sustain us and feed us. The fear that our dream won’t sustain us seems to hold a lot of us back.
