To be inspired…

Art, fashion and music are my passion. There are so many avenues I could take with each one….the issue is releasing fear and having faith.

There are so many of us that are dreaming of something we’re “going” to do….something that feeds our souls and makes us happy. There are those thoughts of quitting your job and really going for your passion. Unfortunately, for most of us, we need to find something promising that is going to sustain us and feed us. The fear that our dream won’t sustain us seems to hold a lot of us back.

In my life, I have gone through many ups and downs. I have let people and fears hold me back. In the end, I always end up in the same place…never moving forward. It’s completely sad and stifling. The feelings of being inadequate, incapable and possibly undeserving of success come over you.

There’s two ways you can deal with these feelings…you can either sink into them and let time pass you by, or you can stop the cycle and make moves in your life.

It’s always easier said than done. There are going to be times where you get fired up and decide you’re NOT going to take it anymore! The world is YOURS! Then…those bad feelings start seeping in again…it starts with a jolt in the pit of your stomach and thoughts of “I don’t know if I can do this….what if no one cares. Will anyone care? I can’t do this on my own…no one will help me!”

When these bad feelings come in, you have to literally tell yourself “NO, I’m not going to do this to myself!”. Just saying it, and saying it out loud, helps a lot.

We are in control of our own thoughts and in more control of our lives than we allow ourselves to be. We allow ourselves to be led and to be so passive, nothing ever seems to happen for us. I found that when I started making things happen on my own, not waiting on others, I could get more accomplished. Too many of us wait on people and things in order to move forward….or wait for “the right time”. We, as humans, are always way too critical of ourselves to where the “right time” never arrives. We’re always picking on ourselves or fine tuning to the point where it’s counterproductive and we never feel good enough. If you find yourself in that space you need to just say to yourself “NO, I am not going to do this to myself!”.

Ultimately, I have found that being able to go after your dream and feed your soul have to do with having faith and trust that God will see you through it.

Faith and trust are difficult things to fully rest in. Having faith and trusting the process means you have to cast your cares and know that in the end, you’re going to be ok. Faith means knowing that what’s happening in your life now is what’s supposed to be happening and it’s happening at the right time. Faith is knowing that in the end, no matter what twists or turns you may have (positive or negative), you’ll get what you’ve been praying for.

One BIG thing we MUST do to be able to rest in faith and trust is release the fear that grips us and stops us from making steps. Releasing fear is the only way you can really grasp faith and trust. It’s not an easy thing to do. Releasing fear means you have to let go of all those thoughts that bring you down and hold you back. Releasing fear means ridding yourself of feeling shame from worrying about what others will think of you.

Of course, all of these things I suggest should be done with love and care. Bad things will happen and you will make mistakes, but know that those events shape us and point us in the right direction. Those things are supposed to be there so we know which way is up. It can be painful at times, but having strong faith will see you through it.

Negativity and pain is temporary. Faith and trust can be forever, if you allow it to be. It can shape your life and your entire being. It will lighten your heart and help you make steps…and don’t worry if those steps are small…they’re steps in the right direction!

Don’t be afraid to be proud of yourself and proud of what you’ve accomplished…even if it’s as small as getting on your computer and doing some research. It may not seem like a lot, but the fact that you’re taking some action is a wonderful thing. Don’t discount any of your steps…no matter how small or fruitles they may seem.

I say all this because I’ve been there and am still there at times. Faith and trust is becoming more prevalent in my life. It’s definitely not a thing where you can just flip a switch. What I’ve done to increase my faith and trust is make small adjustments here and there. If you make small adjustments in your life eventually those small adjustments will become habit.

If you have trouble with resting in faith, think about all those times you worried and things ended up ok. We need to focus on those positive experiences and realize that they happen more often than we recognize.

I’ll end this by telling you that you’re always going to be ok. Aim to rest in faith and trust that God will see you through everything. You haven’t been put on this earth to suffer. Life is amazing. Live it, release your fears and make steps toward your happiness. You are beautiful and your path is lit…take those steps and be inspired.

With love, faith and trust…
